For those of you who’ve been asking me how I do my lettering on my hoops, here’s a time-lapse I did of one awhile ago. About 1:30 in I write on thin lined paper how I want the letters to look, pencil first, then pen. I usually trace the curve of the hoop too to make sure it curves with it. Then I pin it down and embroider right through the paper and follow my lines as closely as I can. Then when I’m finished I carefully pull out the paper from underneath. Any other questions I’d be happy to answer, they’re no secret.
Throwback Thursday to 2008 when I was obsessed with making ’90s rappers bears’ and gave them ridiculous names like “Fresh Prince of Bear-Air”, “Notorious B.E.A.R.” and “Beastie Bears.” This isn’t even all of them.
"When they’re babies, people will come up and say to you ‘Are they a boy or a girl?’ when the kid’s in the pram and you can’t tell. And immediately when you tell them which gender it is they will behave differently according to what you tell them. It got to the point where we didn’t want people to know what gender the baby was. Just treat it as you’d treat someone you wanted to be nice to! Why is it so important to you to know? And then you hear people saying ‘Oh, look at him, he’s a little flirt isn’t he’, or ‘Oooh, she’s gonna wrap you around her little finger’ and all this. What are you on about? She’s two months old, she’s just shat herself."
