Trace the outline of the hoop and cut out a piece of thin paper in the shape of the area you want the words to be in. I go in with pencil first, then pen to make sure things look even. Then pin down the paper and embroider right on top of my lines. Once it’s all embroidered I carefully pull the paper out from underneath, using a pin to get the bits in between the letters. It’s usually just in my own handwriting, but neater. Sometimes I look at dafont.com if I want something script or fancier.
I was always curious , why did you stop selling on etsy? If you dont mind answering that is. And if youve answered this in the past apologies.
Pretty simple answer: It got too expensive. My bills were getting into the $100+ range a month which was ridiculous, and now I only pay $10 a month for BigCartel. It doesn’t have as many features as Etsy which is a bummer but I’d rather keep my monthly bills low.
Hello there. I love your work and the neat finished look of your piece. I do some sewing myself sometimes, and I would like to know if you hand-sew some parts, and if so, which stitch is the best in your opinion? Thank you for your insight :)
All the face details are handsewn and I just use the basic running stitch for them. :) When I used to handsew the body pieces together I’d use the blanket stitch.
